30 Day Shred, The Results!

After 30 Days, here they are! I have to say based on my effort, I am really happy with the results! My goal was to follow the 30 Day shred program for 30 days which consisted of the following:

  • Stick to the workouts (5 days a week with 2 rest days)
  • Track and eat 1,500 calories a day based on the analysis I did reading Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred Book.
  • Try out Jillian’s new cookbook to try out some low calorie recipes
  • Keep on track with my husband (we did the program together)

The Results:

1. The workouts. I stuck to the workouts and did not miss one! I am happy to say that I can successfully make it through level 3 even though it is still very challenging. I love that this workout is 30 minutes. With my schedule it is possible. If I miss a day I really miss doing the workouts.

2. The food. I could improve here. I give myself a B-. I went over 1,500 calories 2-3 times a week so overall I think my results could have been more accelerated. I did really enjoy some of her recipes though and we have incorporated them into our overall meal planning!

3. The partner. My husband and I started out together but once my schedule got hectic I had to switch to 5:30 am workouts. We then went on seperate workout schedules. I don’t blame him for not wanting to get up! We did continue to keep each other motivated though. He skipped some workouts but did better on the calorie counting. I think men just have more will power!! Even though we had different weaknesses it was great to have someone in the house to support me and to support each other. To prove my strength I successfully held him on my back and did several squats. (He is 6′4). That is a confidence builder!!

4. The measurements. Ours varied but overall I am really happy! (and excited to continue this program). Since I started Jillian’s workouts (back in January) my hips have gone down 3 1/2 inches. For a curvy girl that is progress!! I am not at my goal weigh yet (10 more lbs to go), but I am pretty sure I have some stomach muscles that Jillian would be proud of. I can hang in plank pose with the best of them.

Here are my stats.

Weight: -5 lbs

Bust: -2 1/2 inches (Pretty sure all my weight loss was here!!)

Waist: – 1/2 inch

Hips: -1 1/2 inches

Bicep: + 1/2

My husband lost 10 pounds and lost 3 inches in his bust and 2 inches in his waist. Impressive! I hope that through this process that if you take anything away, know that with a hectic schedule it is possible.  You can check out some of my survival tips on the Exercise TV blog.

Have you had success on a workout program? What are your tips/tricks? How do you stick to it?
