Good morning! I am 1/2 way through the shred and feeling pretty good. A little tired, but overall I am enjoying this process. So far here is what I like/dislike about the 30 Day program.
Likes
- 30 minutes goes fast!
- I can see the muscles building. My legs and arms are strong and I can almost do 20 pushups in a row.
- Level 2 and 3 still kick my butt but I haven’t passed out yet. Its challenging enough to keep me going for a while.
- You can take the moves and apply them to any workout. Try doing a rockstar jump after you run. I bet you will be amazed about how a simple move can be so hard!
Dislikes
- Calorie counting is really hard when both meals are on the road (in the car) twice a week.
- Did I mention calorie counting is really hard?
- I miss running, but the weather has been SO hot, its been a nice break
- I miss my ipod! My favorite part of running is listening to music. Perhaps I should try a combo of the DVD with my ipod?
For those of you who are curious what I have been eating, my favorite food choices are the following:
Breakfast
- Oatmeal Parfait OR Overnight Oats. The Oatmeal parfait contains the following:
- 1/4 cup of oatmeal
- 1/2 cup of greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup fruit
- cinnamon (palmful)
- flax seed (palmful, ground)
Lunch
- Sandwhich thins (100 calorie whole grain) with organic ham and honey mustard OR
- 3 ounces of grilled chicken
- AND hard boiled egg with baby carrots
Snacks
- Mojo Bar OR
- Greek Yogurt (depending on breakfast) OR
- Popcorn OR
- Blue Corn Chips/Hummus
Dinner
- Lots of veggies and chicken! We have also been repeating a lot of Jillian’s recipes!
I try to stick to 1500 calories. I am doing much better going into the 3rd week than I did the first two. Sometimes it takes me a little while to get into gear. I try to only weight myself once a week. I am down 3 lbs and my husband 8 lbs. The next weigh in is Monday!
What do you think of the workout reviews so far? Have any of you tried the 30 day Challenge? How do you make yourself stick to your calorie counts?

I’ve never tried the Jillian Michaels DVDs but I always hear good things. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing results in 30 minutes?

You should try them! I got hooked on Exercise TV because they are free. They switch them every few months so you can see which ones you like the best. The Biggest Loser ones are a little easier but still worth the work for the time you spend.
