I booked my ticket this week to go visit Megan in 3 weeks! The countdown is on!
The last time I was in Tampa was in October to see U2 and watch the Buckeye Game! Time flies. Anyways, for those of you that don’t get the luxury of having warm weather all year, this means I have to wear a swimsuit in public!! I have been doing the Bikini Revolution workouts and pretty sure they are working because I have been sore most of the week. The problem is I am a stress eater and stress has gotten the best of me so I haven’t lost any weight. I know that diet is 80% of your weight loss so I need to make some changes.
I always tell myself I am a healthy stress eater (is that even possible?) because I usually choose good snacks with the exception of my chocolate cravings, but I need to reel it back in! When moderation doesn’t work for me I go into “fix it” mode which is a bit stricter.
When I need to get back to basics I follow the South Beach style diet, usually a combination of Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Phase 1 pretty much limits all complex carbs which is difficult and quite frankly I am not sure I could stick to it with my schedule. Phase 2 allows you to work in a few carbs, but the ones lower in sugar. What this means for me is the following.
- 1 complex carb a day – Cereal, whole grain bread, whole wheat rice/couscous etc.
- Unlimited fruits and veggies – I try to stick to berries because they have less sugar than other fruits
- No alcohol – This is hard, but its only for 3 weeks
- 1500 calories or less consisting of 3 meals and two snacks between meals
- No eating after 7pm (I should really follow this all the time!!)
I love breakfast so my carbs will probably come then. Today I had Kashi Whole Grain O’s and a bowl of strawberries with skim milk. I also had my new favorite find – Yogi Tea.
Diet and exercise is always a challenge and stress has definitely taken a toll on me lately. When I did the Jillian Challenge, I had no issues with food. I guess you have to adjust as life changes! So here’s to a new start on a Saturday morning.
How do you make changes to your diet? Do you have special plans you follow to help you get back on track?
